 Myrna Ficken is a busy, outgoing artist with a passion for quilting and creating!  She is an exceptionally talented, award-winning quilter and a well-known educator in the longarm quilting industry.

Myrna has traveled and taught at quilt shows and other quilting events all over the United States as well as at various international events.  She has won many awards with her work over the years and was nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2007 by Professional Quilters Magazine. Her work has been published in books and magazines in the quilting trade.  Myrna also has several longarm quilting DVD's available. She brings a fresh outlook to her classes and techniques and she encourages students to be progressive and innovative. 

Myrna is a generous and gracious educator who sincerely enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with others. Her enthusiasm for the art and her dynamic personality are contagious and bring a positive sense of energy to all of her classes and gives her students confidence. Fill ‘ER’ Up ~ Sunday, September 26th 12-4 ~ $100.00 

Always looking for background fillers? Join me for a bit and let’s Fill ‘Er’ up. We will be doing some longarm appliqué and filling in with mini, micro and normal size background designs.  I will also show you how to couch with your longarm.

Supplies: Sketchbook or paper and pencil.

 

Just Do It 1 and Just Do It Sashing and Borders~ September 27, 9:00-4:00   Hands on & drawing $200.00

This is a beginner to intermediate level class in which you will learn some fun techniques. I'll teach you fillers, flowers, and all kinds of jazzy, funky, cool freehand designs that can be used on any quilt.  Fast and easy edge-to-edge designs to some thinking "outside of the box."  We'll work with border design and carry parts of the design into the sashings and blocks. We're going to spend some time on stitching in the ditch and alternatives.  Bring quilts for discussion as time allows.  This is a busy class, loaded with lots of great ideas!!

Supplies:  Sketchbook or paper and pencils

 

Need Ideas, How Do I Quilt This? ~ September 27,  5-8 Demo/Lecture

Has this ever crossed your mind? What am I going to do on this quilt? Bring your tops that have you stumped and at a loss. I'll share my ideas for quilting them. You will be amazed once you see it through different eyes and get your creativity rolling. You've seen quilts hanging at shows and said, "I would have never thought of that or what a great way to do this". But you just can't see it when you are standing in front of the quilt you have to do NOW. Bring those tops; I have so many ideas to energize your imagination.

 

 

 

Classes must be prepaid. Visa, MasterCard and Discover are welcome. No refunds will be given after September 7th. Please contact Myrna to register for classes. Lunch will not be provided. There are many fast food places close by for lunch

Fowlproof Feather~ Wednesday, October 6th, 9-4 ~ Hands on & drawing $200.00

This is an intermediate level class, but confident beginners should accept this class as a bit of a challenge.  So many feathers….so little time!  Whether yours are long and narrow, short and wide, spiky, curvy, fluffy or flat --- everybody loves feathers and everybody has their own style!  We’re going to get started with the most simple feather designs and we’ll jazz them up until they sizzle!  I’ll show you techniques for swags and wreaths and adding decorative threads.  It’s all designed to make those feather designs blaze on your quilts

Creating Spaces: Rulers, template and more, oh my.  October 7th ,1-4 ~ Drawing and design class/demo $100.00  

This is an intermediate level class.  One of my favorite things to do is to transform a quilt by creating new spaces within it, I'll teach you how. You can add to blocks, borders, sashings, etc.  Learn to use your imagination and allow it to help you create spaces then discover what to do in these spaces to enhance your quilt!  I'll teach you how to use tools that you may already own and learn to use whatever else you might have on hand! We will look at the possibilities using your stencils in new ways. You have permission to have FUN in this class!! We will be drawing and creating designs in this class.  This is an awesome class and will get your creative juices going. I will demo using rulers and if time allows have you practice a bit.

SUPPLIES: Please bring your favorite rulers to work with.
